What
is Santa’s Wonderland? Top
Santa’s Wonderland is a Texas Christmas
Experience! This mega Christmas attraction exists
to positively enrich and lift the human spirit,
to be a bright light in a dark world and to preserve & perpetuate
the true meaning and “Spirit” of
Christmas!
How
many Christmas lights are there at Santa’s
Wonderland? Top
Upon
opening in 1998, Santa’s Wonderland displayed
over a million incandescent Christmas lights
and we’ve been adding more lights every
year since. In 2008, 2009 & 2010 and now 2011,
Santa's Wonderland has invested enormous dollars
in "Going Green". Now, more than
80% of the holiday lights on display in the
park are L.E.D. lights. The colors are extremely
bright, rich & vivid and use about 90%
less electricity. Today, Santa's Wonderland
is the largest Christmas attraction in the
entire State of Texas as it sits on 37 acres
boast a winding trail of lights over a mile
long. It’s estimated that there are over
two and a half million total lights on display
at Santa’s Wonderland.
Where
is Santa’s Wonderland located and how
long has Santa’s Wonderland been here? Top
Santa’s
Wonderland is located just 6 miles South of
College Station, Texas and opened for it's
first season in the winter of 1998. Since that
time, many special Christmas seasons have come
and gone and thousands of guests have toured
the dazzling Christmas attraction. We are extremely
blessed to announce that Christmas 2011 marks
our 14th season.
Is
Santa’s Wonderland open year round? Top
Santa’s Wonderland is only open during the
Christmas holiday season. Santa’s Wonderland
opens to the public each Christmas season the weekend
prior to Thanksgiving and closes New Years Eve.
The park is open every evening during these dates
including all holidays such as Thanksgiving Day,
Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Eve.
Who
came up with the idea for Santa’s Wonderland? Top
Santa’s
Wonderland is a heart-felt preservation and
perpetuation of the true meaning and “Spirit” of
Christmas. The idea for this magical holiday
attraction originated from a personal love
and sincere passion for the Christmas holiday
season. Many creative & talented people
have contributed to this magical place throughout
the years and we say thank you for all the
personal dedication and hard work they have
unselfishly shown to our community and the
lone star state. They have created a Christmas
masterpiece and a bright light in a dark world.
They have truly made all the difference during
the years. Without their unique skills, dedication
and special love for the Christmas season,
there we be no Santa's Wonderland!
Does
Santa’s Wonderland leave all the Christmas
lights up year round? Top
Most
of the Christmas lights remain up during the
off-season, especially now with the L.E.D.
holiday light conversion in recent years. However,
wind, rain and the sun’s UV rays do serious
damage to the lights, so some have to be stored
away once the park is closed for the season.
Replacing the damaged lights is a very tedious
and time consuming process, but maintaining
the brilliant colors for the holidays is always
worth the extra effort.
How
much time does it take to get Santa’s
Wonderland ready each season? Top
Although Santa’s Wonderland is only open
to the public during the Christmas holiday season,
the preparations and maintenance have quickly become
a year round endeavor. The spring and summer months
of the year are used to create, build, and maintain
the various Christmas scenes and displays. Wind,
rain, heat, and humidity all have a serious effect
on the Christmas lights and park displays, which
requires thousands of hours of troubleshooting
and repairing prior to opening for each holiday
season.
Does
Santa’s Wonderland make changes and add
new scenes each year? Top
Every year Santa’s Wonderland adds new scenes
and holiday light displays to the park. Santa’s
Wonderland is also always improving other aspects
of the Texas Christmas Experience. For example,
Santa’s Town is always being enhanced and
improved in the area of Santa’s hayrides,
musical entertainment, retail shops, food, parking,
traffic flow, restrooms and much, much more!
How
much electrical power does Santa’s Wonderland
use each year? Top
Santa’s Wonderland uses enough electricity
during the Christmas holiday season to power several
neighborhoods within the Brazos Valley. There’s
just about enough wire to stretch from Bryan/College
Station, Texas to Navasota, Texas and back.
Can
you park and walk through Santa’s Wonderland? Top
Santa’s
Wonderland originally started out as a drive
thru park in 1998. However, in the past several
years Santa’s Town, our Texas Christmas
Village has become the centerpiece of our Texas
Christmas Experience. There are now three ways
to tour the trail of lights within Santa’s
Wonderland. The first is driving thru the trail
of lights while staying inside your personal
vehicle. The second is Santa’s Hayride
Tours and the third is Santa's Horse Drawn
Carriage. Santa’s Hayride Tours & Horse
Drawn Carriage Tours originate inside Santa’s
Town and travel the same trail of lights as
the drive thru vehicle tour.
Where
do Santa’s Hayrides go? Top
Santa’s Hayride Tours go through the same
trail of lights that the personal vehicle tours
travel through. Each hayride trailer is equipped
with L.E.D. holiday lighting, Christmas music and
freshly bundled hay for seating. There is no overhead
obstruction so the visibility is perfect. Taking
Santa’s Hayride tour also means you can tour
the lights as one large group. It’s the ultimate
Texas Christmas Experience!
